Hearing Test
A hearing test is performed to identify the type and severity of the hearing loss in each ear. It is performed using a machine called an audiometer which is designed to compare the hearing level of an individual test subject with average normal hearing.
An audiogram is the product of a hearing test. More precisely, it's a graphical representation on paper, showing the specific pitches (frequencies) and loudness (intensity) levels that a person can hear with each ear. | |
| The audiogram provides vital information for use in the selection of the appropriate hearing aid system for the individual.
To the left is an audiogram plot ted as a result of such a test showing average normal hearing,
To the left is shown an audiogram for a high frequency hearing loss |
The last audiogram is illustrative of everyday sounds and where they would appear on the audiogram.
