Description
An open ear hearing aid system is fitted is the ear canal without blocking it.
This has the advantage that it does not impair the ear's natural ability to amplify sound and rather adds to this rather than first having to replace only then to add to it. It also has significant advantages over traditional fittings as discussed below.
The fitting is usually achieved by combining a very tiny aid, which sits more on than
behind the ear
, with either a slim tube and dome into the ear canal, or by placing the Receiver in the Ear (RITE)
Virtually invisible
Unlike some hearing aids, you have to look closely to notice the Open Ear type hearing aids. Not just because they are so small, but because they feature a revolutionary new sound delivery system. Open Ear type hearing aids are so light and comfortable that you are likely to forget you are even wearing them!
Advanced noise reduction
Having a little trouble hearing others in a noisy restaurant, or at
home
when there’s a TV or radio playing in the background? Open Ear type hearing aid technology includes advanced noise reduction, which locates and reduces unwanted noise, helping you to hear conversations more clearly.
Remote Control
Some of the Open Ear type hearing aids (
Phonak
Savia
Art, ) come with a remote control that allows you to discreetly adjust the prescription or the volume, from within your purse or pocket.
