Open ear Fittings

An open ear hearing aid system is fitted is the ear canal without blocking it.

This has the advantage that it does not impair the ear's natural ability to amplify sound and rather adds to this rather than first having to replace only then to add to it. It also has significant advantages over traditional fittings as discussed below.

The fitting is usually achieved by combining a very tiny aid, which sits more on than behind the ear, with either a slim tube and dome into the ear canal, or by placing the  Receiver in the Ear (RITE)
